The first night in your new Cavanna home essentials
We know there’s a lot to think about when moving into your new home, which is why we’ve put together a handy checklist of first night essentials for you and your family (including your furry friends). We want to make sure you’re creating wonderful memories in your new Cavanna home from the very first night.
Kitchen kit
First things first, you’ll want to get your kettle up and running to make hot drinks for you and your moving helpers. Make sure you have tea bags, coffee, milk and sugar packed and easily accessible. Don’t forget mugs and glasses too!
Within the box of kitchen essentials, remember to bring cleaning products such as washing up liquid, sponges, cloths, kitchen roll and bin bags to keep things clean and tidy from the moment you move in.
The first night in your new home is a great time to scout out your new local takeaways, but don’t forget to pack cutlery and dishes, including bowls to enjoy cereal in the morning.
Moving home can be quite tiresome, so have an enticing selection of snacks to keep you and your removal team going throughout the day. Having an assortment of tasty biscuits to dunk in your tea is a great way to keep everyone motivated!
Last, but certainly not least, is a delicious bottle of bubbly to toast to your new home (just remember the bottle opener!).
Children’s home comforts
Moving to a new home as a child can be both exciting and overwhelming, but having a box of their favourite toys, books and blanket will provide them with extra comfort.
Don’t forget to pack some fun activities such as games or colouring to keep them entertained while you focus on making your house a home.
When it comes to bedtime, dress the bed with their favourite bedding, add a nightlight and their cuddly toys to make them feel right at home.
For the family
We’d recommend packing a selection of clothes and essential items for you and your family to ensure you have everything you need on hand for your first few nights in your new home. Here are some of our suggestions:
- Pyjamas for all the family
- A spare, clean outfit for everyone, including underwear
- Sturdy and comfortable shoes – there’ll be lots of moving around!
- Waterproof coats in case it’s raining or chilly on your moving in days
Personal essential items
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Toiletries
- First aid kit
- Prescription medication
- Any nappies, wipes or dummies for younger children
Home essential items
- Loo roll
- Towels
- Pillows, duvets and bedding (top tip – get them all ready so that you only need to pop them onto your bed/mattress for the first night)
- Blinds or curtains to block out light, or even a makeshift covering until you decide on your final fittings
- Phone and tablet chargers (top tip – download a selection of films onto a tablet to watch in the evening until your TV is set-up and wi-fi installed)
- A torch
- Batteries
- Light bulbs
- A hex key
Another handy item is a vase ready for when your family and friends pop over with beautiful bunches of welcome flowers.
Pet necessities
Making sure your furry friends are comfortable on their first night is also important. We’d suggest packing a separate box with food to last a few days, and depending on the pet, a lead, waste bags, their water and food bowl, plus their bed or blanket to sleep on.
