Cavanna Homes is laying the foundations for its new apprentices
We’re pleased to have welcomed our 2022 intake of apprentices as part of our commitment to providing opportunities and valuable support to the next generation in the construction industry.
Five apprentices aged between 17 and 34 years of age have joined as paid full-time employees based at our head office in Torquay with the opportunity to gain experience on-site across our South West developments.
The apprentices; Katie Moore, Maya Hanauer, Connor Willers, Richard Penhaligon, and Jade Hills will be completing qualifications in administration, commercial contracts, IT, finance and HR.
Victoria Potter, Head of HR said: “We’re proud to be supporting the next generation to get into housebuilding through our fantastic apprenticeship scheme which enables young adults to step into an exciting new career while they continue to learn.
“We remain committed to nurturing up-and-coming talent and offering practical and hands-on experience to our apprentices to give them the best start in their roles and inspire them to become experts in their field”.
The apprenticeships will be completed over 24 months, depending on the scheme, and the apprentices will split their time between work experience at Cavanna Homes and attending college to gain an NVQ.
We have helped to secure full-time positions for four of our former apprentices; Max Dorothy is a Junior Assistant Site Manager, Matthew Churchill is an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Jack Walker is an Assistant Hire Desk Controller and Yosief Michael has been offered a permanent role with Barkwell Plumbing and Heating.
In addition to our new cohort of apprentices, we have also taken part in the government’s Kickstart Scheme supporting young adults to gain valuable work experience to help build a successful start to their careers.
Managing Director Keith Miller added: “As a regional recruiter, we recognise the importance of providing hands-on experience and job-based training to the next generation to create a solid foundation for their future careers in construction.
“With so many career paths now available within the housebuilding sector, we want to encourage young people to explore the roles available to them, whether it’s on-site learning a skilled trade, or working in head office with land, HR or finance teams – there’s a wealth of opportunities available.
“We’re passionate about ensuring that the skills we’ll need for the future are available locally and we’re looking forward to watching our enthusiastic apprentices flourish and become the next generation of homebuilders”.
