No party is complete without seasonal, fun décor to set the ambience, so we’d recommend getting ahead with your Easter decorations.

Your new open plan kitchen-diner is the perfect space for entertaining, so start the decoration here. A white and pastel colour palette is often a popular choice for Easter and springtime, but you could opt for bold and vibrant colours such as pink, bright yellow and electric blue – the choice is yours!

Table centrepieces provide a wonderful focal point to pull the décor together, so take the opportunity to get creative and make your own. Perhaps a floral nest made with painted eggs or an Easter egg tree with colourful pom poms. For the little ones, print out free Easter activity placemats that they can colour in whilst you’re decorating the kitchen!

Baking and Sweet Treats

We all know that Easter is as much about spending time with those most special to you as it is the chocolate sweets and scrumptious treats! As the party host, consider baking a show-stopping cake for all the guests to dig into, such as a carrot cake decorated with playful carrot toppers, or keep it super simple with an Easter traybake.

On the day, entertain the children by getting them to decorate Easter-themed biscuits or cupcakes with fun, colourful toppings such as sprinkles or fruit.

If baking isn’t your thing, no need to worry. You can still lay on a fabulous spread of traditional Easter bakes for your guests, such as hot cross buns, simnel cake, cinnamon rolls and trifle. Just head down to your local supermarket or farm shop. The delightful Greendale Farm Shop and Darts Farm are only short car journeys away from our Equinox community and Cavanna @ Elm Park neighbourhood in Exeter.

The Ultimate Easter Egg Hunt

An Easter egg hunt is a tradition loved by children (and adults too)! Your new garden presents itself as the ideal setting to stage your hunt, but if the weather doesn’t allow, you could take it inside your Cavanna home depending on how many guests you have attending.

Here are 10 brilliant places to hide Easter eggs in your garden:

  • in a sandpitPicture of children counting Easter eggs on a lawn
  • in an empty watering can
  • inside some gardening gloves left on a table
  • balanced on the edge of a bird bath
  • hidden in a garden bush
  • lined up on a garden swing
  • underneath a pile of leaves
  • perched on a low hanging tree branch
  • beside a garden gnome
  • underneath a bucket

When it comes to organising the hunt, keep it playful and imaginative! Often popular with the kids is a treasure hunt, so you’ll need to prepare clues to send them to the next location. You could always swap out the chocolatey rewards for trinkets or small gifts. Whatever you do, it’ll be a “hopping” success!

And there we have it! Everything you need to throw an Easter party “egg-stravaganza” for your family and friends in your new Cavanna home. Don’t forget to tag us in your photos of your Easter themed set-up, decorations, bakes and Easter egg hunt on Instagram (@cavanna_homes) and Facebook!
