RTPI President, Sue Bridge visits Cavanna @ Elm Park
We were pleased to welcome the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) President, Sue Bridge FRTPI to Cavanna @ Elm Park in Exeter, as part of her visit to the district of Teignbridge.
Sue was joined by the South West RTPI Chair Ian Perry, representatives from South West Young Planners, and officers from Teignbridge District Council and Devon County Council, to see how the pro-active working relationship that Cavanna Homes has formed with Teignbridge planning officers, has helped to deliver high-quality, much-need housing, whist bringing to life the vision for a green infrastructure.
Artist designs for a sensory garden which will feature at the heart of Cavanna @ Elm Park were shared, along with plans showing how residents will be seamlessly connected to the adjacent Country Park and Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space, which will shortly be open to the public.
Mike Smith, Senior Development Manager at Cavanna Homes led the tour of Cavanna @ Elm Park, alongside Build Manager, Yanni Sechatis and Technical Project Manager, Matt Fiddler.
Mike said: “We wanted to demonstrate that through careful placemaking and a considered site design we are creating a dementia-friendly environment, which is a key feature in the scheme’s plans.
“We are privileged to be part of such an innovative project and proud to be able to illustrate the benefits of good planning as the scheme emerges into reality.”
