Cavanna Homes welcomes a spring boost for the property sector
Grayham Tucker, Group Managing Director, for the Western Morning News’ Spring Property Review
It’s been a long winter and the arrival of spring is welcome for a number of reasons in the property sector – not least because the longer days and (hopefully) better weather gives buyers the opportunity to get out and about, and start viewing homes and exploring new communities.
We are hugely proud to have recently been awarded the maximum status of a 5-star housebuilder from the Home Builders Federations (HBF).
To achieve the rating, homebuilders will have received a perfect 5 out of 5 score from at least 90% of new homeowners, against a number of criteria. It’s a significant achievement for the whole Cavanna team.
There are a several factors that determine where house hunters choose to buy, including, of course, location. But the quality of construction, energy-efficiency of properties and excellent customer service right through the buying process, are major considerations for those choosing new homes.
As signs emerge of an improving property market, with falling inflation in March and a potential drop in interest rates in early summer, we expect a boost for homes sales. Our status as an accredited 5-star house builder, the highest accolade in the sector, means customers can buy one of our homes with confidence.
The case for buying a new home is strong, particularly for families keen to reduce the cost of house maintenance and running costs. Statistics from the HBF show significant savings can be made in managing a new home, compared to an older property.
Since last Autumn inflation has fallen to 3.4% – still historically high, but the lowest rate for almost two-and-a-half years. According to the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) a further fall in inflation to around 2% is predicted in the next quarter, while many lenders see up to three cuts in the base rate of interest by the Bank of England before the end of 2024.
All of this points to a brighter outlook for home buyers with a mortgage and at Cavanna Homes we will always do what we can to assist home buyers take their first steps into property ownership or make a move that is right for them.
We are building beautiful, practical and affordable new homes across the South West, from properties close to the city services in Exeter, to village homes in Hemyock, Mid-Devon, and homes by the sea in North Cornwall.
Work has started in Somerset, where we are building in collaboration with Martin Grant Homes, near Bridgwater, and we’ve recently secured reserved matters approval for 39 homes in North Molton, North Devon, with construction due to begin in summer 2024.
Spring is the perfect time to see what’s available and as the financial outlook begins to improve the opportunity to make that all important move should get easier.
