Three is the magic number for Cavanna Homes’ cycling trio
A trio of enthusiastic cyclists from Cavanna Homes successfully cycled three counties in three days, raising over £3,000 for Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW).
Now in its 11th year, the Ride for Precious Lives endurance challenge took the cyclists on a 205-mile route across Cornwall, Devon and Somerset to raise money for CHSW.
Our Cavanna team; Michael Newman (Head of Design), Ed Brown (Development Manager) and Ben Rowntree (Land Buyer), joined a group of 69 cyclists from businesses across the South West to show their support for the charity.
Michael said: “This has been an incredible experience from the moment we set off to when we crossed the finish line with an amazing reception from our families and friends.
“The atmosphere across the three days was very emotional. There was a great sense of camaraderie and we all shared a laugh along the way, but we also heard stories from the Hospice which really hit home and gave us that much needed encouragement to reach the finish line.
“The most memorable part of the challenge for me was seeing the line of riders scale Cheddar Gorge on one of the hottest days – it showed real commitment. The support and encouragement we received from passers-by and the CHSW team gave us that much needed push. Thanks to our kind hearted colleagues at Cavanna Homes, our family, friends, consultants and contractors, we’ve smashed our fundraising target of £3,000!”.

Along the route, the cyclists had many pit-stops and were welcomed by local communities who provided refreshments and plenty of cake for the riders.
This year’s event has raised over £75,000 for CHSW, which will support children with life-limiting conditions, and their families, across the South West.
