Wonderful Westcountry: Cracking Cornwall
We think it’s fair to say that Cornwall doesn’t really need an introduction. Famous for its stunning coastline and beautiful landscapes, it’s no surprise it’s a hotspot for those looking to enjoy something more permanent than a holiday there and the perfect spot for our new homes in Cornwall.
It’s for this reason we have built several developments in Cornwall including our former Moorland Vale community on the edge of Bodmin, one of Cornwall’s oldest towns. Bodmin sits on the edge of Bodmin Moor and has a bustling town centre with a great selection of shops, super places to eat and drink, a retail park and leisure centre. It also has two primary schools, a secondary school and a recently opened further education college.
If you love the great outdoors, you’re really spoilt for choice here. The beaches and coastline are arguably the stars of the show in Cornwall and both the north and south coast. Head north to the popular fishing port of Padstow, famed as a foodie destination and perfect for a relaxed family day out. The beach at Polzeath is renowned as one of the best in the county for surfing, so don’t forget your board if you’re looking to give it a go! A little further west, you’ll also find the surfer’s paradise of Newquay.
Meanwhile, if you follow the A39 Atlantic Highway further up the north coast, you’ll arrive in the beautiful seaside resort of Bude, where you can find our new community of homes at Bellevue and Bellevue II. Back on the south coast, you’ll find the hidden coves and peaceful beaches of Fowey and Par, among many others.
Staying on dry land doesn’t mean you’ll miss out on any of the fun though. Walkers and cyclists are also spoilt for choice here. Join the famous Camel Trail which starts in Bodmin and snakes through the countryside for 18 miles to Padstow. It’s mainly flat too, making it perfect for all ages and abilities. Just 3 miles from Bodmin you’ll find Cardinham Woods, which offers acres of trails through scenic woodland.
The South West has many wonderful National Trust properties to visit and one of our favourites is Lanhydrock. Take a wander around the late Victorian country house before enjoying a stroll through its pretty garden and wooded estate. Talking of gardens, don’t miss the impressive Lost Gardens of Heligan. This mysterious estate was almost lost after World War One, but in 1990 its 200 acres were rediscovered and restored to their former glory.
An attraction not be missed is the spectacular and hugely popular Eden Project. With its iconic Biomes, plants and art exhibits, this fascinating and educational place makes for a great day out for all the family with plenty to keep everyone entertained.
