Land acquired for new family homes in the rural village of Crossways in Dorset
We’ve acquired over 13 acres with planning permission for a new community of family homes on the western rural edge of Dorchester in the village of Crossways, located off Frome Valley Road.
Surrounded by 13.89 acres of natural open green space, the new homes will be within reach of the historic market town of Dorchester, as well as the River Frome and Dorset Downs for scenic walks and exploring.
Homeowners will also benefit from the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) 3 miles north, and the World Heritage Jurassic Coast under 6 miles away.
We’ll be building 140 energy-efficient, modern family homes in a range of styles to suit all buyers’ requirements, with 35 percent marked as affordable housing for local people, and considerately designed in keeping with the surrounding area with Grainge Architects.
Alongside a community of new homes, we’ll be contributing over £1.7million to the local authority through Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) and Section 106 contributions.
Head of Land and Design, Michael Newman said: “We have beautiful new home developments across Devon, Cornwall and Somerset, so it’s fantastic to add Dorset to our growing South West footprint with the acquisition of 13 acres in Dorchester, complementing our recent acquisition of 11.4 acres in the west Dorset town of Beaminster.
“We’re looking forward to seeing plans progress on our new homes in this stunning countryside location close to schools, a train station and local amenities.”
The Cavanna Homes Land Team are targeting Dorset as a growth area for the business, so are actively seeking more land in the area from agents and landowners.
