On your doorstep… places to explore near Cavanna @ Elm Park
On the southern outskirts of Exeter between Exminster and Alphington, our Cavanna @ Elm Park development will provide its new community with easy access to the beautiful cathedral city via the Riverside Valley Park, and in the other direction, some of the country’s best-loved footpaths and cycling routes along the River Exe towards Starcross.
Set alongside its own parkland and public open space, Cavanna @ Elm Park also offers the convenience of access to the region’s main trunk roads leading to South Devon, Plymouth, Cornwall, Dorset and towards Bristol via the M5 or London via the A30. But here’s what’s available right on your doorstep, if you’re looking to move to Cavanna @ Elm Park.
More than 40 hectares of Riverside Valley Park are within walking distance of our new homes, with paths for ramblers and cyclists alongside the River Exe and Exeter canal which can be utilised for leisure or commuting into the city. Riverside is one of six Valley Parks managed by Devon Wildlife Trust and provides a crucial corridor for nature and wildlife, so look out for the pretty pink wildflower Ragged-Robin as well as wet grassland birds such as snipe and cormorants when visiting.
Almost directly opposite Cavanna @ Elm Park is the RSPB’s Matford Marshes which is home to wildfowl and waders including common sandpipers, mallards and mute swans. You might spot some while you’re jogging on the track that crosses this quiet reserve.
For sports enthusiasts, there’s Exminster Golf Course which offers some of the most spectacular views of any golf course in Devon. Just a 5-minute drive from the development is Exeter Golf and Country Club which offers an 18 hole course alongside indoor and outdoor swimming pools, tennis and squash courts, a gym as well as bars and restaurants. A little further on, at Sandy Park, is a David Lloyd club, also boasting excellent gym facilities, pools and a spa. For any rugby fans out there, Sandy Park is also home to the Exeter Chiefs!
There are some great pubs nearby too. The Double Locks offers delicious food and drink in a spectacular canal-side location, busy with kayakers, canoeists and paddleboarders throughout the summer months. The Turf Hotel on the edge of the Exe Estuary is a magnet for cyclists and offers an idyllic location for families and friends to meet and eat at one of the picnic tables in the huge garden with brilliant play equipment to keep the children entertained for hours!
You’ll find more restaurants at Exeter Quay just outside the city centre where you can book a table at the much loved On The Waterfront, famous for its ‘dustbin lid’ sized pizzas or Mitch Tonks’ Rockfish offering freshly caught fish and seafood.
