Proud To Support Our Communities Across The South West

We’re proud to support charities, community facilities, clubs and schools within local communities, close to our new home developments. This year, we’ve donated funds to The Donkey Haven Charity in Holsworthy, The Stratton Bike Trail in Bude, The Balsam Centre in Wincanton, West Exe Youth Football Club and supported schools in Exeter and Tavistock to supply new books for their pupils.

 

The Donkey Haven Charity – Holsworthy

The Donkey Haven Charity is committed to rescuing and rehabilitating donkeys from all around the world. Karen Fitz-Hugh, Director and Trustee of the charity said: “For a new charity like us, this donation means so much as there are so many things it can help settle.” The funds will support farrier and veterinary bills as well as costs for insurance and feed.

 

The Stratton Bike Trail – Bude

Stratton Bike Trail is owned and run by Stratton Primary School who fund its upkeep and maintenance. The Bike Trail is open to the public to use, free of charge on evenings and weekends. Headteacher, Penny Simpson said: “The donation will help us to keep providing this great resource for our pupils as well as making it available for the wider community.”

The Balsam Centre- Wincanton

The Balsam Centre provide health, social and cultural opportunities for individuals of all age groups. They commit to improving mental health and quality of life by keeping people connected, preventing isolation and loneliness as well as supporting those who are struggling to cope.

 

Tavistock Primary School

After a suspected arson attack on Tavistock Primary School’s outdoor pavilion earlier this year we offered funding towards the restoration of their outdoor space. The school advised that this was covered by insurance however we were pleased to make a donation towards a range of new books for the school’s library. Laura Handel, Headteacher of Tavistock Primary School said, “We are focusing on reading across all year groups in the school and were delighted to receive funding towards some beautiful books to improve our library stock. We’re very grateful and the children are thrilled. Thank you Cavanna.”

Monkerton Community Primary School

We’ve also been proud to partner with The Bookery, a not-for-profit independent bookshop to provide pupils at Monkerton Community Primary School with a free copy of best-selling author, Sarah McIntyre’s latest book Grumpycorn, to help nurture the children’s love of reading.

Cathie Holden, Schools Outreach Co-ordinator at The Bookery said: “We’re really grateful for Cavanna Homes’ support, which has enabled all the new and excited young readers in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 at Monkerton Community Primary School to get a copy of the beautifully written and illustrated Grumpycorn and start their reading journey”.

West Exe Youth Football Club

We’ve also been pleased to support West Exe Youth Football Club’s U11 team by providing them with new sports jackets.

 

Melanie Potter at Cavanna Homes said, “Supporting schools, charities and facilities in the communities in which we build is important to us. We are pleased and proud to have supported pupils with their love of reading and education, fund vital local services and the upkeep of facilities as well as donating towards important charities and the work they do.”
