Why Exeter is a great place to call home
The magnificent city of Exeter is the ideal location for your next family home. There is a fantastic choice of independent and high street shops to be enjoyed in the city centre, excellent primary and secondary schools, plus plenty of countryside and scenic walks to be explored.
Here’s why you might want to consider Exeter for your next home move…
Excellent education
Exeter has a good selection of primary schools, including the ‘outstanding’ OFSTED rated Westclyst Community Primary School and St Leonard’s (CofE) Primary School, both under five miles from our new homes at Equinox and Cavanna @ Elm Park.
For secondary education, St Luke’s Science and Sports College is within walking distance of our Equinox community. There are also plenty of private schools, including The Maynard School for Girls, Exeter School and Exeter Cathedral School.
Exeter is also home to the award-winning Exeter College for post-16 students and the University of Exeter, which is in the top 150 universities featured in The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022.
Superb shopping
The city is one of the region’s favourite places for shopping as it provides an array of boutique independents and familiar high street names, plus a great choice of cafes and restaurants.
If you fancy a break from the shops, we recommend visiting Exeter’s Cathedral Quarter to enjoy a fresh coffee (or tea) with a tasty slice of cake whilst admiring the iconic Cathedral.
The city centre is easily accessible from our new home developments at Equinox and Cavanna @ Elm Park by car, bike, or bus. You can even enjoy a stroll from Cavanna @ Elm Park to Exeter’s Quayside for a bite to eat or an evening tipple.
Get outdoors
Many of our homes are close to open green space which provide homeowners with additional places to relax, exercise or unwind.
The East Devon Pebblebed Heaths, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is half an hour drive from our Equinox community and offers over 1,400 hectares of lowland heath to enjoy. Not forgetting the National Trust parkland at Killerton Estate is a 15-minute drive away and has miles of tracks, woods and open space to explore for all ages, and your furry friends too!
Our homes at Cavanna @ Elm Park, between Alphington and Exminster, are surrounded by Suitable Alternative Natural Green Space (SANGS land), and the River Exe Country Park is within walking distance and provides an excellent space for exercising with stunning views of the river and canal.
