How to create your instant summer garden
Need some top tips for a garden makeover? Here’s how you can create your instant summer garden, quickly, affordably and beautifully!
Create a stylish seating area
Seek out a sunny spot in your garden and set up a seating area with chairs and a table, or a garden bench with blankets and cushions. Visit charity shops to look for second hand garden furniture or join local Facebook Marketplace groups to see what others are selling on. This could make a fun upcycling project if you find wooden furniture that needs sanding and a lick of paint.
To extend your evenings outdoors in your newly created seating area, consider investing in a wood or gas burning fire pit for the ultimate al fresco experience. They really do create a cosy source of light and heat to gather around with friends and family when the sun goes down.
Grow colourful plants in pots
If you’ve not long moved into your Cavanna home and are still deciding where you want permanent flower beds, buy yourself time and prepare potted plants for your patio this year.
Depending on the amount of sunlight your garden gets, research the flowers and plants that prefer lots of sunshine or cool shady patches and plan your pots accordingly. Good quality, pre-loved plant pots can be bought for a fair price at recycling centres, so save yourself some money and “root” out a bargain!
Simple herb gardens
Get your children to think about their favourite meals and the herbs that make the dishes flavoursome, so you can create a herb garden together. Basil, dill, parsley, sage and rosemary grow well from seeds during the summer or purchased as potted plants and transferred into beds or containers at home.

Light and water features
Solar powered lights can be picked up from garden centres or supermarkets over the summer and attached to fencing or strung in bushes and around potted trees for added cosiness during the evenings.
For a simple water feature, try a free-standing solar powered fountain which can be placed in a bird bath or large pot filled up with water.
